Gear and safety measures.


We will teach you how to properly use a paddle board, do some gear fit and go through some safety points to have a great time in the water.

9:15 AM - 10:15 AM

Launching & riding through the marsh.


We will be paddling upstream and then downstream to the beach to explore the nice ecosystem that we are in while learning about it and the best ways to keep it safe.

Beach Hang & Lunch


We will be sharing some community time enjoying some snacks, sharing our favorite parts and things we learned followed by some music and beach activities.

11:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Clean-up & Packing up


We will do a small beach clean-up and a small gratitude circle to continue with our day!

About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours 30 minutes
  • Ages 12+

NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED .

This is an experience for BIPOC community of all genders and age 12+. (Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian)

Whether this is your first time padleboarding or you already have experience, this is a perfect opportunity for you to learn the basics of paddleboarding while learning about the ecosystmes that surround us. No swimming experience needed required.

This experience is made possible thourgh the support of The Onion Foundation.

What to bring?

  • Bring bathing suit/ beach shorts on , a towel, dry clothes, water, sunscreen and water. Anything you would bring to a beach day.

What does MWS+ Provide?

  • Boards, lifejackets, dry bags and snacks!

What if the weather is not in our favor?

  • We have a rain Date for Aug 3 with the same agenda starting at 7:45 am for carpooling and 8:30 am for those who can just meet us there.

LOCATION:

Our Experience will take place in the Spurwink River, Scarborough. Our top priority is being able to feel safe in and out of the water and becuase of this, the exact location of our meeting point will be emailed to you two days before the experience.

TRANSPORTATION:

We will be offering some carpooling opportunities for those who don't have access to a vehicle. You will be able to opt-in as a passenger or as a driver* when registering!

*to be a driver means you have a car in good conditions and are commiting to carpool people at the beginning and end of the session.
