Whether you're a seasoned triathlete or new to the sport, this try-athlon is designed to be inclusive and fun for everyone. The event will start at 9:00 AM Central Daylight Time, so make sure to arrive early to get checked in and warmed up. Race heats will begin every 30 minutes so please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled heat. The course will include a swim, bike, and run, with adaptive equipment available for those who need it or you are encouraged to bring your own equipment. We can't wait to see you at the finish line!

Meet Me At The Finish Line is an event open to all of our young athletes around the community that have mobility deficits or for children who are not afforded the oportunity to participate in community events due to phsyical, social, or emotional barriers. This try-athlon is designed to allow kids the opportunity to push themselves to the limit and inspire self-confidence in mobility while creating memories that will hopefully last a lifetime.

This event is being sponsored by HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, AMBUCS, and the Richard E. Workman Sports Complex.

Adaptive bikes will be supplied by the AMBUCS chapter in Sullivan, IL. The event space is being graciously provided by the Richard E. Workman Sports Complex.

We encourage you to stay for the entire duration of the event to give each and every one of our athletes that boost they need to finish the race and accomplish an amazing feat!

Frequently asked questions

Where can I change my child after the swimming portion?

This year we will be using the therapy clinic for wardrobe changes. PLEASE refrain from using the locker rooms. We will have a volunteer at the swim area to direct to the therapy clinic where private rooms with adjustable mat tables will be provided for participants during wardrobe changes.

Will there be floatation devices or assistive devices available?

If your child has any special devices, we encourage you to bring them with you. We will have a small selection of swim safety gear (pool noodles, life vests, floating pad, puddle jumpers. etc) and assistive devices (walkers , gait trainers, or canes) available for use.

Will there be refreshments available at the event?

We will have snacks and water available near the registration table. PLEASE refrain from bringing food and drink into the pool area. Thank you!

Will there trained personnel assisting with my child?

Anyone from the community can volunteer for this event but most volunteers work for HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital. There will be multiple medically- trained personnel at each section to assist with your child's needs.

Do I need to bring a towel for my child?

Yes

Will there be a volunteer to take pictures at the event?

Yes, there will be a designated volunteer to take pictures.

If my child has sensory concerns, how will they be addressed?

Please address your concerns when you register for the event. If you have additional concerns, contact Alex.Kastl@hshs.org so we can prepare for your child's needs.

When and where should I drop off my child’s assistive device (walker, wheelchair, or gait trainer)?
