Meet Geeta Anand: An Evening with VTDigger’s New Editor-in-Chief
Overview
Join VTDigger and David Goodman, host of "The Vermont Conversation," for a special community event at the Manchester Community Library introducing Geeta Anand, VTDigger’s new editor-in-chief.
Geeta is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who brings nearly three decades of experience in investigative and public service reporting to her new role leading Vermont’s go-to news source.
Anand began her journalism career in southern Vermont, covering Rutland and nearby communities for The Rutland Herald, where her investigation on credit reporting errors spurred congressional action. She went on to serve as a foreign correspondent for The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, reporting from India on global health, politics, and human rights. As dean of the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, she mentored the next generation of reporters while advocating for a strong, independent press. Anand is also the author of "The Cure," the basis for the film "Extraordinary Measures" starring Harrison Ford.
Now back in Vermont, Anand is leading VTDigger into its next chapter — strengthening local reporting, expanding access to reliable information, and deepening coverage of the issues that shape our communities.
This free, public event will feature a conversation between Geeta Anand and David Goodman about her career and her vision for the future of local, independent journalism in Vermont. The evening will include a Q&A session, hors d’oeuvres, and beverages available by donation.
