Welcome to Meditation for Beginners!

Come join us for a relaxing introduction to meditation. Whether you're new to meditation or just looking to refresh your practice, this event is perfect for you.

During this in-person event, you will learn basic meditation techniques to help you reduce stress, improve focus, and find calm. Our expert facilitator will guide you through each step, making it easy for beginners to follow along.

This session will be held at the Queens Well studio, located in Ridgewood, Queens near Grover Cleveland High Playground. Exact location provided with registration.

About your facilitator: This session will be guided by Misha, our founder and operator in-residence. Misha brings over 20 years of study and experience in mindfullness and meditation practices, including Soto Zen, and Vipassana Buddhism.

Frequently asked questions

How long will this meditation be?

This meditation period will be brief to cater to beginners. No longer than 15 minutes; possibly shorter depending on the level of participants in the room.

Do I need any prior experience with meditation?

No. This session is designed for those with little to no meditation experience.

What should I wear or bring?

You should wear loose fitting comfortable clothing, in which you can easily sit still for 15 minutes. If you have a meditation cushion, feel free to bring it, but it is not necessary. Cushions can be provided.

What kind of instructions will be provided?

Your facilitator will provide a general overview of the how and why of meditation. They will then provide instruction on posture and positioning, on how to be present in the experience. Gentle spoken guidance on where to focus your thoughts will also be provided during the meditation.

I can't/don't know how to sit cross-legged. Is that a problem?

No. Sitting cross-legged is not a requirement. Any position in which you can sit still and comfortably is ok, including sitting in a chair.
