Hi Everyone,
Jason Brandow here, and I am excited to announce that I will be instructing another introduction to meditation course this November 22nd-23rd, 9am-4pm. This 2 day weekend course will cover the basics of what mediation is, and teach you how to improve your health and well being using meditation and mindful practices.
If you’ve been struggling with stress, chronic fatigue, anxiety, depression, long-covid, feeling overwhelmed, chronic pain, or if you find yourself always over thinking or hyper self critical, this course is designed for you. I have developed it specifically for people who have not meditated before, or are looking to improve their meditation abilities and transform their lives like I have.
Day 1 is all about the mental side of things. I will introduce you to the science of meditation, showing you research on what it can help rewire the brain and nervous system. You will be guided through many meditations and be given lots of opportunities to practice your new mediation skills. We will focus on how to deal with intrusive thoughts and mental distractions as they come up during your meditation, and how to manage over thinking and self critical thoughts throughout your day.
Day 2 is all about the emotional side of things. I will show you how meditation is used to decrease the stressful effects of all of the common negative emotions, such as fear/anxiety, anger/resentment, hopelessness, guilt or shame. We now know holding onto these negative emotions over time leads to a multitude of diseases and disorders and affects our current relationships with others. We will focus the meditations on the body using body scan and somatic tracking style meditation, and learn to “reset” the autonomic nervous system to better respond to triggers. You will finish the day with a “Loving Kindness” style meditation to integrate everything and learn how to bring up positive emotions at will!
These 2 days are an essential retreat from the hustle and bustle of life where you will learn techniques you can use every day to improve and maintain your health. There are plenty of question and answer periods throughout the course as well.
