DODD Subcutaneous Insulin Injection and Injectables for Metabolic Glycemic Disorders by Nursing Delegation

Course Date/Times: Course to be presented over 4 hours, 8:00AM-12:00PM

Course Description: The purpose of the DODD Medication Certification Category 3 course is to teach unlicensed DD personnel to administer administer insulin and injectable treatments for metabolic glycemic disorders. Unlicensed DD staff will receive certification to administer above mentioned treatments to the individual under the direction of a licensed nurse. This certification is in addition to Category 1.

Criteria for Successful Completion of Course:

• Attend class in entirety

• Participate in all class activities

• Successfully perform return demonstration of all procedures taught

• Pass a closed book test with an 80% or better

• Submit an evaluation of course

Requirements:

• Maintain DODD Medication Administration Certification 1

• DODD application must be submitted to Nurse Educator at least 2 weeks (14 days) prior to class.

• Understand that Medication Certification 3 staff are unable to administer insulin and injectable treatments for metabolic glycemic disorders without nurse delegation.

• Must be a least 18 years of age

• Hold a high school diploma or GED

• Be able to read , write and understand English

• Criminal Background checks without offenses

• Currently employed by a Stark County DD Agency or be an independent provider in Stark County

Agency representative must complete page one of application and page two must be completed by student. Copy of high school diploma or GED must be submitted with application.
