This two-day workshop for practicing data scientists will enable you to use and extend John Snow Labs’ Healthcare NLP & LLM software. You will run live Python notebooks that walk through implementing popular use cases. Each section is guided by a real-world case study and includes a discussion on practical design questions such as choosing between small and large language models, using pre-trained models versus tuning your own, optimizing inference cost, and ensuring data privacy. These use cases will be covered:
- Medical data de-identification and obfuscation
- Information extraction in oncology from radiology, pathology, and genomic reports
- Patient-level reasoning: building and chatting about a longitudinal patient view
- Building patient cohorts with natural language prompts
- Medical text summarization
- Patient risk adjustment and HCC coding
The workshop is organized in two four-hour-long sessions, each followed by self-guided coding. This is a live online workshop whose instructors are current lead contributors to the Healthcare NLP & LLM codebase. A certification of expertise is provided to attendees who pass a final online exam.
