Meaningful Conversations - Enhancing Your Relationship with Adolescent Boys
Overview
Boys' mental health is often overlooked in conversations around the youth mental health crisis. Adolescent boys are less likely to open up with friends, teachers, parents, and mental health professionals about psychological symptoms. Parents’ are grappling with responsibility of raising their boys and are asking themselves what they did wrong or could have done better. Even the most sensitive parenting can’t fully protect boys from the cultural forces that shape male identity.
This workshop will highlight what boys can teach us about the social impact on their mental health and how parents and those who work with young boys, can help them recognize and discuss their emotions using strategies for engagement while promoting resilience and a positive mental health outlook.
