Session 3: Chapter 3 – Safety & Accountability
A Nurse’s Love for Black Mothers, Black Births, and Black Lives: "Embodying Safety & Accountability in Care”
What if we defined safety not by protocols and checklists—but by love, protection, and belonging?
In Session 3 of You, Me & SACKRED Birth, we’ll gather around Chapter 3: Safety & Accountability to explore a new definition of safety that centers the humanity of Black birthing people. Join Dr. Karen A. Scott—Black feminist physician scientist, author, and systems disruptor—as she invites us to listen deeply to the lived experiences of Tasha, Mariah, and Zaria.
Together, we’ll witness how safety feels when care is accountable to our wholeness—when nurses lead with love, communicate with transparency, and co-create care that’s democratic, affirming, and liberating.
This is not just another conversation about quality improvement—it’s a return to what we already know: that safety lives in connection. That Black love is a clinical intervention. And that accountability is love in practice.
Come as you are—birth worker, nurse, advocate, scholar, parent, healer, or truth-teller—and be part of a brave, necessary reckoning. This session is for you. This moment is for us.
