As in previous years, a two-part workshop titled “Maximizing the Power of Diversity – Inclusive Leadership, Cultural Intelligence and Unconscious Bias” is offered to WIPO Delegates at the margins of the WIPO Assemblies.

Research shows that diverse and inclusive workplaces and environments respond more effectively to challenges and risks, displaying enhanced adaptability and resilience, and leading to more creative and innovative outcomes.

However, leading teams inclusively, that compass different ages, genders, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, abilities/disabilities, to mention a few, may be challenging and requires specific skills.

This workshop aims to:

• provide an understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusion and its impact on innovation;

• develop greater sensitivity to diversity and inclusion by exploring adaptive strategies around culture and bias mitigation;

• sensitize on the factors that create inclusive environments where the talents of each team member are celebrated in an inclusive and diversified manner, and

• support leaders in leading inclusively, creating culturally intelligent workforces within changing working dynamics, namely hybrid and remote formats.

Within its various segments and activities, the workshop will actively engage participants, including through self-assessment and exercises focusing on diversity, creativity, innovation, morale, productivity and quality, cultural and communicational leadership styles and unconscious bias awareness.

The facilitator

The workshop will be facilitated by Alan Richter, President of QED Consulting, who has extensive experience in the diversity field and has previously collaborated with WIPO, including in the areas of leadership, organizational values, culture and change, ethics and conflict resolution.

The workshop includes two parts:

Part one
