Overview

MathFest '26: Logic and Reasoning Edition Building Critical Skills for Competitions & Beyond with Fun!

This winter, MathFest is transforming into a fun arena to understand logic and reasoning. As competition season approaches, we are shifting the focus from standard calculation to the Logic, Reasoning, and Strategy required to excel in global challenges like Math Kangaroo, AMC 8, and MOEMS. This event is FREE of cost.

  • For Beginners: A low-pressure, hands-on introduction to "thinking outside the box" and solving puzzles without fear.
  • For Advanced Students: A strategic training ground to sharpen speed, accuracy, and problem-solving techniques.

🌟 What's In Store - The Experience 🌟

The event features a structured rotation through 4 Skill Stations followed by a live quiz.

  • Station 1: The Pattern Decoder (Algebraic & Geometric Logic)- Masters the matchstick logic puzzles frequent in MOEMS and visualizes Pascal’s Triangle (number patterns) often tested in AMC 8.
  • Station 2: The Operations Gym (Mental Agility): "Can You Make a 0?"- Builds the Order of Operations and Equation Balancing speed required for the MathCounts Countdown Round and AMC 8 arithmetic sections.
  • Station 3: The Visual Architect (Spatial Deduction): "Unknown Squares."- Directly models the Rectangle Dissection and Area Logic problems that are a staple in Math Kangaroo and AMC 8 Geometry sections.
  • Station 4: The Partition Puzzle (Combinatorial Logic): "Dot Clusters."- Trains students in Tiling and Polyominoes, a key spatial skill found in Math Kangaroo and advanced Logic Olympiads.

The Assessment: Must bring a phone or tablet to participate.

  • The Quiz: A gamified, tiered quiz (Kahoot style) covering Visuals, Patterns, and Word Problems.
  • The Report: Parents receive a MathFit Insight Report, identifying their child's specific strengths (e.g., "Strong Visual Logic, needs focus on Sequential Reasoning").
