Mastering Shiny is an online living-textbook (https://mastering-shiny.org/) by Hadley Wickham. Given a starting point of basic to intermediate R experience, the text covers everything you need to know to get started building interactive reports, dashboards, and applications with R Shiny. From the book:

Shiny is a framework for creating web applications using R code. It is designed primarily with data scientists in mind, and to that end, you can create pretty complicated Shiny apps with no knowledge of HTML, CSS, or JavaScript… Today, Shiny is used in almost as many niches and industries as R itself is. It’s used in academia as a teaching tool for statistical concepts, a way to get undergrads excited about learning to write code, a splashy medium for showing off novel statistical methods or models. It’s used by big pharma companies to speed collaboration between scientists and analysts during drug development. It’s used by Silicon Valley tech companies to set up realtime metrics dashboards that incorporate advanced analytics.

Independent Study Format

Participants read assigned chapters and work on exercises on their own prior to session (~4-10 hours to complete ~2 chapters per week)
2-hour weekly sessions to discuss, in order, (1) questions about textbook exercises, (2) questions and opinions about chapter concepts, and 3) trouble-shooting real-life apps that students might be developing on their own.
Audio/Video will be via Zoom; Chat conversations and sharing of resources will be via Slack

12 meetings, held weekly, Thursdays (7-9pm Eastern), from January 21 to April 15 (no session March 25)
