The DPA Instructors who lead these workshops are professional photographers

For each Master Your Camera Controls, a maximum of 5 attendees sit for 90 minutes with the instructor who will walk you through the manual camera controls of your specific camera. More than 5 attendees would be too chaotic if each person brings a different camera, with different controls.

After enrollment we procure the exact camera manufacturer and model in advance so the teacher is sure to point out any special features. This allows the photographer the option of overriding the automatic camera controls which sometimes disengage because the mechanics of the camera miscalculate the visual effect you are attempting.

The Master Your Camera Control session is always taught very close to the meeting spot of the Composition in the Field session. This makes it easy for those who want to enroll in both classes.

Venue Description:

This locale is made for a photographer. Even if you are not one, time spent here is replenishing with a lovely breeze that blankets an unending array of photo ops.

There are several options of waterfalls which your Digital Photo Academy instructor can use to demonstrate and instruct the varying effects of shutter speed control, ranging from a velvety smooth impressionistic version of flowing water to a depiction of flowing water frozen in time.

Macro photo ops are everywhere, ranging from vibrant flowers to creatures of the forest. Your instructor will also teach you the photo composition technique of rule of thirds. This technique pulls the main subject to a corner of the frame, waking up the eye of the viewer and emphasizing the other components which offer a sense of place, time, and other noteworthy details.

How about panning? Undoubtedly, your visit will observe cyclists riding along, and you will have fun with a trial and error process that will allow you to depict the subject leisurely coasting by all the way to zooming at a breakneck speed. Better yet, catch a Tri-Shaw, a three wheeled rickshaw, for a more picturesque example of slow panning. With a number of winding trails throughout the park, you will walk away from this workshop with portfolio worthy examples of leading lines images.

Finally, there are depth of field lessons to be learned, that inform the viewer of the subject in crisp focus against blurred surroundings.

Meeting Spot:

Meet your instructor at:

Nixons Restaurant located inside the park

6115 Santa Fe Drive, the NW Corner of the gardens by the South Platte Trail

Littleton, Colorado 80120

Call Digital Photo Academy at 1 877 372 2231 or a field agent at 917 597 7053. Lots of people seem to hang up if our welcome recording comes on instead of a live voice, but we promise to return your message within a day or two if you leave one with your name and number. It would be even better if you included your email address as well as the date and city of the class you are considering. If leaving a voice mail message is not your thing, please email us at DPAbooking@digitalphotoacademy.com and include the date and city of the class you are considering, as well as your phone number .
