The Lumen Foundation for Enrichment & Advancement proudly presents Braille Fundamentals, a hybrid introductory course designed for individuals who are blind, visually impaired, newly experiencing vision loss, or supporting someone who is.

Whether you’re beginning your own braille journey or building skills to better serve a loved one, this course provides a supportive, community-centered environment to help you thrive.

Over five days each week, participants will explore the foundations of braille reading and writing, tactile learning strategies, and tools that promote confidence in everyday living. Through hands-on activities, guided practice, and practical application, learners will gain the essential skills needed to navigate their world with greater autonomy.

This course is led by an Orientation & Mobility Specialist and trained facilitators dedicated to accessible education, dignity, and empowerment for all.

Course Format

Hybrid Model:

  • In-Person Sessions: Mondays & Wednesdays
  • Virtual Sessions: Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays
  • Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

All materials will be provided, and no prior experience with braille is required.
