MASCRADE: Archive of Unveiling
Overview
🎭 MASCRADE: The Archive of Unveiling
Headline: Beyond the Frame: An Intervention into Black Masculinity, Lived and Luminous.
MASCRADE: The Archive of Unveiling is a profound, immersive exhibition by artist Ajmal Mas Man Millar that challenges how Black queer male identity is documented, performed, and preserved. Inspired by the legacy of the 1994 "Black Male" show, Millar presents 11 unique, high-relief assemblage masks—each an archive of a singular archetype.
Step into the Archive and witness a compelling material duality.
This is more than an exhibition; it is an intellectual, lively, and unapologetically Black queer Happening, staged in the very heart of the community that inspired it: Calabash Alley Caribbean Restaurant. Experience the fusion of high art and authentic nourishment as the space transforms, inviting you to move beyond spectatorship into conversation.
Join us as we drive deep into the complexities of self, celebrate community, and intervene in the archive.
