Artist Lectures Sunday, Feb 15th, 12-4 pm: Artist lectures followed by more hot glass demos
Mark Leputa and Steve Hagan return to Duncan McClellan Gallery not as emerging artists, or as mid-career artists, but as masters of their craft and co-founders of their own studio, High Priority Studio (Tucson, AZ).
Leputa first captivated gallery audiences during his 2021 residency and solo exhibition Beyond the Temporal, where his cold-carved glass forms revealed a striking command of surface, structure, and light. Hagan, too, shares a deep history with the gallery—his own early residency at Duncan McClellan Gallery marked a pivotal moment in his artistic development, where he began creating the first works in his now-signature fruit series featuring intricate murrini patterns.
Drawing from Leputa’s refined cold-carved forms and Hagan’s lively, function-meets-abstract creations, the exhibition charts a narrative of growth—highlighting years of development, shared experience, and creative partnership. The artists return to Duncan McClellan Gallery, where their paths converged, offering a rare opportunity to experience the synergy of their studio-born innovations.
Visitors are invited to witness firsthand how these two artists, once emerging protégés, now drive their own vision with expertise, collaboration, and the confidence of master glass artists.
