In 2023, Lucus, a proud Marine who served his country, took on a 36-mile ruck march from Bay St. Louis to Ocean Springs to raise awareness for a cause very close to his heart—Veteran suicides. This issue hits home for Lucus, who knows firsthand the struggles many Veterans face after serving. Suicide is a complex issue with no single cause, but prevention is possible when Veterans find the support they need before a crisis happens.
Everyone has a role to play in keeping Veterans safe and healthy. You don’t have to be an expert to make a difference. Everyone can help prevent Veteran suicides.November 9, 2024, Lucus led the 2nd Annual March for Vets starting at War Memorial Park in Pass Christian, MS and marching 22 miles to Keesler Federal Park in Biloxi, MS. The march symbolizes the 22 Veterans who tragically take their own lives each day, according to VA studies. With Lucus and 5th Squad leading the charge, this event serves as a powerful reminder that we must all work together to raise awareness and reduce these preventable tragedies.
After the march, we will gather at Keesler Federal Park to celebrate this meaningful journey and honor our Veterans. There will be food, drinks, and entertainment awaiting the arrival of Lucus and all those who walk with him. It’s more than just a march—it’s a day of unity, support, and action for a cause that affects so many.
