Manitoba to Milan: A Fundraiser by Ally’s Ribbons

Indigenous fashion designer Ally’s Ribbons is hosting a one-night-only fundraiser to help bring her team of designers and models to Milan Fashion Week this September. While Canada has seen a surge of talented Indigenous designers reshaping the fashion industry, international exposure remains limited. This event aims to spotlight the art, identity, and innovation of Ally and her team as they prepare to represent Manitoba on a global stage.
"Manitoba to Milan" will feature:
– An urban market showcasing local artisans
– A live fashion show
– Classic mocktails & music
– A silent auction
– An interactive photoshoot with models wearing exclusive looks
Designs by Ally’s Ribbons, Terrance Thomas, Dreyden Roulette Flett, and April Slater will be featured—each blending modern aesthetics with traditional values. Expect ribbon skirts with lace and ruffles, vibrant regalia, and intricately beaded jewelry rooted in Anishinaabe and Cree heritage.
Ally’s Milan-bound team represents Indigenous, Afro-Indigenous, and Two-Spirit communities and includes head model Ocean Bruyere—a life coach, Reiki specialist, and trailblazing advocate.
