Mandem’s Quarters, in partnership with the British Library, presents Mandem on the Move—a fortnightly programme designed to assist Black, mixed heritage and men of colour aged 18+ to build their confidence, employability skills, and have an opportunity to explore business opportunities. Through interactive workshops, group discussions, and expert-led sessions, this series creates a supportive space for personal and professional growth.


What to Expect:

  • Practical Workshops – Hands-on sessions covering CV writing, LinkedIn, communication, and business basics.
  • Facilitator-Led Training – Learn from experienced professionals who understand the challenges and can provide real-world insights.
  • Men’s Circle Discussions – A safe space to share experiences, support each other, and build confidence.
  • Access to Resources – Learn how to use the British Library’s Business & IP Centre to support your career or business goals.

This programme is for Black, mixed heritage and men of colour aged 18+ who feel stuck in employment or business. Whether you’re NEET (not in education, employment, or training), an ex-offender, or facing financial or mental health barriers, this space is for you.

Programme Breakdown:

⚠️ This is a journey, not just a one-off session! Participants are expected to attend all sessions to fully benefit from the programme.


  • Session 1: Getting Started – Identifying your strengths, setting career goals, and planning your next steps.
  • Session 2: Personal Branding – Creating a standout CV, LinkedIn profile, and professional presence.
  • Session 3: Effective Communication – Developing skills for workplace success, networking, and business interactions.
  • Session 4: Money Talks – Managing finances, understanding good vs. bad debt, and exploring business ideas.
  • Session 5: Pitch Perfect – Learning how to sell yourself and your ideas with confidence.

Each session will be hands-on and interactive, combining practical advice, discussions, and activities to build confidence and skills. You’ll also have access to valuable resources at the British Library’s Business & IP Centre.

5. Do I have to attend every session?

We encourage you to attend all five sessions to get the most out of the programme, but we understand that life happens. Come to as many as you can!

6. Will there be any one-to-one support?

While the main focus is group learning, our facilitators are experienced professionals who can offer guidance and signpost you to additional support where needed.

7. What do I need to bring?

Just yourself! If you have a CV or LinkedIn profile, you can bring it along for feedback, but it’s not a requirement.

8. How do I sign up?

9. Where is it held?

Sessions will take place at The Last Word located at The British Library. Full details will be shared upon registration.

10. What happens after the programme ends?
