Managing Meltdowns: Strategies for the Whole Family

By Initiative for Vulnerable Children

Overview

Learn Proactive and Responsive strategies designed to manage meltdowns in the moment based on TBRI, Trust Based Relational Intervention.

Especially created for foster/adopt/kinship caregivers!

Kids with trauma histories are more prone to meltdowns. It seems like their mood can change in an instant from playful and engaged to disrespectful and defiant. In this class I will help you better understand the root causes of these meltdowns and equip you with tools to manage them. Discover proactive strategies you can teach your child to help prevent meltdowns, what to do in the moment and ways to help them recover quicker when things do go wrong. You will gain insight into the skills your children need, learn specific actions to take AND to have fun doing it! As a result of implementing the tools I provide you with, your family will be on its way to building deeper bonds of trust, empathy and connection.

Presenter Info: The class is taught by Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) Practitioner, Tristen McGhee. As an Early Childhood Educator, Tristen is an adoptive mom, writer, and advocate for foster/kinship/adopted children. She has substantial experience working with vulnerable families to find a path of hope and healing.
