Join us for breakfast and a presentation by patent attorney Michelle Leveque from Leveque IP Law, PC. This presentation will focus on how the four major areas of intellectual property (IP) – patents, trademarks/branding, copyright, and trade secret – can bring value to your business and encourage investment. The presentation will focus on patents as a valuable form on IP. In particular, the current state of the law on patent subject matter eligibility and software patent requirements under 35 USC 101 will be explored.

About the Speaker:
Michelle Leveque is a registered U.S. Patent Attorney with over 25 years of patent experience who is licensed in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. In 1993, she founded Leveque IP Law, one of the few woman owned patent and intellectual property firms in the U.S. In addition to the application of IP law to technology, she is interested in the use of mediation as a tool in the resolution of patent disputes.
Ms. Leveque holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University, an MBA from Southern Methodist University and a J.D. from the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University.
Ms. Leveque is active in many professional and service organizations, including Rotary, Giles S. Rich American Inn of Court specializing in IP law, American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) where she chairs the Alternate Dispute Resolution committee’s education sub-committee, Maryland Economic Development Associate (MEDA), DefTech Maryland, FITCI, and the Ft. Detrick Alliance. She also serves on the board of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra.
She is especially interested in fostering economic development in Maryland and is a frequent speaker and panelist on intellectual property throughout Maryland, including in the Eastern Shore, Southern Maryland, and Western Maryland.
