Join us at the University of Lincoln, Riseholme Campus for a morning filled with outdoor adventure and mammal exploration! Tracks and Trails is the perfect event for anyone wanting to learn how to spot mammal signs and help with citizen science - we'll show you how to use Mammal Mapper, how to use footprint tunnels, how to set up and deploy camera traps and learn how to identify the tracks mammals leave behind.

The Lincoln Imps Mammal Group will be running this event at the University of Lincoln's Riseholme Park Campus on the 3rd November 2025 as part of the Climate Action Festival.

Join us for a short talk where you'll learn learn how to ID mammals using the tracks and trails they leave behind. We’ll then head outside to put your newly found knowledge to the test in guided walk around Riseholme. You'll learn how to set up footprint tunnels and camera traps, then choose where to put them around the campus.

For university students there is a free shuttle bus leaving from the LAC at 8:30am which gets to Riseholme at 8:55am. There is a shuttle bus back to Brayford campus that leaves at 12:30pm. This event is open to members of the public. Please email environment@lincoln.ac.uk if you are attending with a car by Friday 31st October so we can manage parking for this event.

A member of the Lincoln Imps Mammal Group will meet you at Lawress Hall at 9:20am to escort you to the event building for a 9:30am start.

Please wear appropriate clothing for this event and weather, we recommend sturdy shoes (walking boots/shoes) and plenty of layers. You’re also welcome to bring your own nature guide books. Fully charged phones are recommended as we will show you how to log sightings on a citizen science mobile app.

Please be advised that dogs are not permitted at this event or on the centre of Riseholme Park Campus. If you bring a dog, you will not be able to attend this event.
