This evening is for 8th grade students who will attend Stevenson High School in the fall, as well as their parents. Students will be in one room talking to current Stevenson students about their transition to high school--in particular, the social issues that may arise and how to manage new time commitments. Parents will be in another room talking to a panel of experts, including Claudia Kasten (Chief of the Juvenile Division, Lake County State's Attorney's Office), Dr. Cristina Cortesi (Substance Abuse Coordinator at Stevenson), and Stuart and Laurie Kessler, parents of a former SHS student who struggled with addiction. The focus will be on how to best manage the student's social tranistion to high school.
