About this Event

"Making the Move from Staffer to Contractor"

Whether you're transitioning to an "encore" position after a full career, or you're looking for new opportunities after being furloughed, many older adults are now taking a second look at contract or freelance jobs. But what are the considerations? How will this affect your income and tax reporting? How might COVID affect your decision and your available options? What qualities do successful contractors possess? Come learn from Sean Hale and Chip Sampson as they talk about their own experiences and share valuable information that every contractor/freelancer must know.

About Sean Hale: During 2020, Sean transitioned from employee to consultant and started two and a half businesses while managing his son's Zoom kindergarten experience: Sean Hale Consulting helps nonprofits build strong back offices (finance, technology, HR and operations) and Philanthroforce.org helps nonprofits identify the right consultant for the job. Plus he supports his daughter's online lipgloss-selling businesses! Prior to becoming an independent consultant, Sean worked for more than 20 years as a staffer for two international nonprofits, a church and a capacity-building organization.

About Chip Sampson: Self-described as a teacher and creator, Chip has more than 20 years of experience in the Professional Services and Project Team Placement industry. During that time he has developed long-term business relationships with a large number of employers and a network of contacts. Prior to that, he served 11 years in management roles at customer service and sales-focused companies in the music and audio industry.
