About this event
To be most effective, school-based occupational and physical therapy sessions should be provided in the natural learning environment in collaboration with school staff. This two-hour seminar is designed to familiarize school-based therapists with tools to provide meaningful 30-minute interventions in the therapy room, classroom, and other natural environments and ensure collaboration with school staff in order to engage students in activities that contribute toward meeting IEP goals.

Learning Objectives
- Identify and demonstrate effective ways to collaborate with IEP team members and parents to optimize carryover of learned skills into all settings.
- Analyze and relate successful treatment strategies and materials to address sensorimotor, fine and visual perceptual skills to support improvement with academic skills and participation in all school settings.
- Identify and apply when to use push-in vs pull-out to maximize learning opportunities and facilitate academic functioning and participation in the school environment.
- Evaluate and relate 4 specific evidence-based interventions for push-in to address sensorimotor, fine and visual perceptual needs in the natural learning environment.

About the Presenter:
Christine Knafelc, OTR/L, has been working with the pediatric population for over 20 years and is the Occupational Therapy Clinical Supervisor for Therapeutic Resources School-Based Division. Christine has worked in all facets of pediatrics including early intervention, New York City DOE Schools, Charter Schools, Religious Schools, and preschools. Her vast experience in pediatrics has enabled her to mentor and coach clinicians transitioning to a school-based setting; spearheading the Pediatric Mentoring Program with Therapeutic Resources.
For New York Licensed Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants Therapeutic Resources is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Physical Therapy as an approved provider of physical therapy and physical therapy assistant education. This course is offered for .2 CEU's.
Cancellation Policy: 75% of course fee will be refunded if Therapeutic Resources is notified up to 21 days before the event. In lieu of a monetary refund, Therapeutic Resources also offers a credit for the full amount paid up until 5 days before the event. No refunds or credits are offered after the day of the course. If the course is canceled by Therapeutic Resources due to low registration, illness or cancellation of instructor, or inclement weather. Therapeutic Resources will refund the full amount paid for the course.
