The event will feature a reading by Ari Berman, contributing writer for The Nation magazine and author of Give Us the Ballot: The Modern Struggle for Voting Rights in America, chronicling what happened after the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the continued struggle to guarantee equal access to the ballot box. A panel discussion, featuring leaders in the voting rights field, will follow on the impact of the Voting Rights Act and current efforts to weaken the right to vote.
