Event description
Making Space: Conversation with Jacolby Satterwhite, Jack McGrath, and Stuart Comer. Moderated by FWM Curator Karen Patterson

About this Event

This discussion will center around the importance of space—both real and imagined—in the realization of Satterwhite’s multivalent projects. In conversation with FWM Curator Karen Patterson will be Jacolby Satterwhite; Jack McGrath, professor of art history and critical theory at Columbia University School of the Arts, Parsons MFA Fine Arts, Cooper Union, and Yeshiva College; and Stuart Comer, Chief Curator of the Department of Media and Performance at The Museum of Modern Art.

Satterwhite works in an interdisciplinary space that includes dance, performance, drawing and digital media. Fabricating the virtual, performing personal narratives, building cyborg utopia, and queering the ordinary will be just a few prompts for this esteemed panel, as they delve into the space needed for each. This conversation will be a complement to Jacolby Satterwhite’s solo museum exhibition, Room for Living, at The Fabric Workshop and Museum and You're at home, his concurrent solo exhibition at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn.
