Participants will examine the concept of sensory integration, gaining insight into the different sensory systems and identifying behaviors that may indicate a child is experiencing difficulties in a particular sensory area. The session will address how challenges within these sensory systems can impact learning, focusing on the connection between ineffective sensory processing and observable learning obstacles. Attendees will engage in discussions about activities and strategies, as well as targeted interventions designed for children who exhibit specific sensory responses. Emphasis will be placed on recognizing individual needs and implementing effective approaches to support children’s unique sensory profiles.
Tools to be provided following the training include: Response Styles for Children Facing Ineffective Sensory System Challenges; Examples of Picture Representations for Children with Visual Sensitivities; Tailoring Strategies for Sensory Seekers, Under-Responsive, and Over-Responsive Children; Checklist of Activities and Interventions Used with Children with Under-Responsivity; Checklist of Activities and Interventions Used with Children with Over-Responsivity
