Event description

Description

An integrative yoga and home organization workshop to cultivate outer and inner space, and reveal authentic joy.

Making S P A C E is a workshop that combines Yoga with the KonMari Method™ to set you on the path to lifelong calm and clarity by teaching you how to clear out the things in your life that no longer serve a purpose.

Clearing our mind and body is essential to truly organizing our home and life. If we leave our inner world cluttered our outer world is only temporarily tidy. Marie Kondo, author of The Life-changing Magic of Tidying Up says, “The process of assessing how you feel about the things you own, identifying those that have fulfilled their purpose, expressing your gratitude, and bidding them farewell, is really about examining your inner self, a rite of passage to a new life.”

Yoga and home organization work together to free your body of tension and your house of clutter, revealing a spaciousness and freedom inside and out. Our homes and bodies hold on to more than we need. Getting anchored in abundance and releasing our grip leads to ease and enjoyment in body and place.

In this workshop, you will learn the basics of the KonMari Method™ of home organization and experience movement, breath, and meditation designed to help you create space and let go of what is not essential. Bring your tensions and your stuff into the light and learn to hold all things loosely while enjoying the abundance of life!

Bring a yoga mat and journal. We will have some mats available if you do not already own one. Please don't feel the need to purchase anything new for this workshop.

No yoga experience needed.

We will close the afternoon with a celebration including snacks and champagne from 4:30 - 5:00.

WHY MAKING SPACE

Are you feeling stuck or discomfort in your body? Are your closets, cabinets, and drawers overflowing? Could you use a little more ease in your life? You may be wondering what these things have in common, but it's all about making S P A C E.

We cannot create space, but we can make space by letting go of what's currently occupying the space. We can only do that once we've learned to see what it is we've been holding on to by pulling it out into the light. (We may have been avoiding looking at it for some time.)

How can MAKING SPACE change your life?

  • More time to devote to the things that truly matter.
  • Enjoy being in your body and being in your home.
  • Feel less stress and more calm.
  • Waste less time, energy, and resources.
  • Heal old wounds that may be zapping your energy without your knowing.
  • Have greater clarity and tap into your intuitive power.
  • Arrive at decisions more easily and with more confidence.
  • Live with more gratitude and abundance.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHERS

Jess Goulding has been in the body/movement business for over 30 years: first as a dancer, then as a yoga teacher, and now as a yoga therapist as well. These years of deep embodiment for her have created a unique lens to the whole human experience of being in a body! Her thousands of hours of training and experience are the foundation of both her intuition and her anatomical knowledge. She has made a life study of how bodies have and heal pain, how the nervous system responds to stimuli, how the mind creates our reality, and how spiritual connection is our deepest desire.

Erin Mursch is a home organizing consultant based here in Austin. Her passion for order and transformation have been apparent all her life, from her days lovingly tidying up her roommates' closets to tidying up spreadsheets in her first professional job. After experiencing the Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up herself in 2015, Erin trained with Marie Kondo to become Austin's first Certified KonMari Consultant. She has now logged more than a thousand hours of tidying in spaces of all sizes and shapes. Erin believes in sustainable decluttering by finding reuse or recycling options before throwing anything away, which eases the pain of letting go and brings even more joy and gratitude to the process. In addition to her hands-on tidying work with clients, Erin leads workshops and hosts quarterly community clothing swaps to encourage clutter clearing and secondhand and share economies. Her ultimate goal is to raise awareness of the waste of our consumer culture and to choose joy instead.
