Why are there so many different books called "Robert's Rules of Order"? Are they the same thing?

The first "Robert's Rules of Order" was published by Henry M Roberts in 1876. While many copycats have been published since then, the 12th edition (ivory cover with gold lettering) is the only officially authorized version. It is published by the Robert's Rules Association.

Where can I buy my own Robert's Rules book?

"Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised (12th ed.)" [Ivory cover] and "Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised In Brief (3rd ed.)"[Yellow cover] are available for purchase at <https://www.parliamentarians.org> and Amazon, including digital editions.

What is the yellow book then?

The book with the yellow cover is "Robert's Rules of Order, Newly Revised - In Brief (3rd ed.)", the only authorized concise guide. It is designed to give a brief overview of the most important principles in Robert's Rules of Order, with direct references to the larger ivory cover book.
