Making Pysanky Eggs
Overview
Pysanky is a traditional art of Ukraine. Egg decoration in Ukraine is widespread and practiced by many. The pysanka (Ukrainian: писанка, писанки (pl.)) itself, a wax-resist type egg, is one of Ukraine's national symbols, and is known throughout the world.
Originating as a pagan tradition, decorated eggs were absorbed by Christianity to become the traditional Easter Egg.
This workshop is not meant for young children as it involves the use of open candle flames and hot wax. You must be at least 16 years old to participate without a parent. Children 12 to 15 may participate if accompanied by a parent. Class is limited to 9 participants. All materials are provided. Cost per person is $35. To
