About the Event

Experience the beauty of Korean craftsmanship in this hands-on Mother-of-Pearl Workshop by Umma, part of Kollab’s October event Jangteo — a Korean traditional market filled with culture, art, and creativity.

In this session, you’ll learn how to work with traditional najeon (mother-of-pearl) materials and design your own one-of-a-kind creation to take home.

There has 2 slots which can choose one of you want

1. 13:00~15:00(2h)
2. 15:00~17:00(2h)

*It’s totally fine to mix one of the items you brought with one that’s already prepared.

These sessions are truly special experience — something you can enjoy only at Kollab’s Jangteo!

Bring anything you’ve always wanted to decorate — your phone case, mug, tumbler, or any personal item — and transform it with your very own mother-of-pearl design.
I’ll be there to help guide your design process, so don’t worry if it’s your first time.
It’s a one-of-a-kind opportunity to create something truly personal and unique!

*There’s no limit on quantity!

Just bring anything you’d love to decorate with mother-of-pearl, from notebooks to accessories, and let your creativity shine.

Whether you’re new to Korean crafts or already a handmade art lover, this workshop offers a relaxing and inspiring moment to create something truly personal.

🎁 Bring your own item or choose any two items you like.
There are three types of goods you can choose from:

1. Phone grips
2. Key rings (circle, star, heart, hexagon, etc.)
3. Hand mirrors

Who Can Join

*Open to all ages and experience levels!(Since adhesives are used in this workshop, it is recommended for participants aged 10 and above who can safely take part in the crafting process.)
*No prior art skills are required — just bring your curiosity and creativity.

Please Note(Important Information)

1.This session involves the use of adhesive. For participants with lacquer allergies, a non-toxic enamel coating will be used as a finishing material instead. If you have sensitivities to enamel as well, please bring your own gloves for protection.

We also recommend bringing your own apron or protective clothing if you’re concerned about getting any finishing material on your clothes.

2. The finishing coat won’t dry completely on the same day. It needs to air-dry at room temperature for at least a full day.
So please bring your own container to take your finished goods home — something like a zip-lock plastic box that can act as a protective shield works best. I’ll seal it with tape for you, and once you take it home, please don’t open the case for at least 24 hours!
