Join Mad Hare Press for a fun, hands-on workshop where kids and families will create their very own miniature animal piñatas using paper, glue, and imagination!
Inspired by traditional piñata-making techniques, this workshop focuses on creative expression and accessible craft-making. Participants will decorate small piñatas (approximately 6 inches) with tissue paper and cut paper details to bring their favorite animals to life, from silly to fierce, colorful to cuddly.
This workshop honors the joyful spirit and community roots of piñata-making in Mexican and Latinx cultures while adapting the format for young artists in a low-mess, beginner-friendly way. Children will take home their own festive creation as a keepsake of their Art Week experience.
This workshop is designed for kids and families. Recommended for ages 5–12. Adult supervision required for children.
Materials Provided: Pre-cut cardboard bases, crepe paper, glue sticks, string, paint, and embellishments
Instructor: Liz Ortiz of Mad Hare Press (Latina artist and arts educator)
This activity is offered as part of the Fort Collins Art Week celebration and reflects Mad Hare Press’s commitment to accessible, culturally-informed community arts programming.
