Make Not Buy
Overview
Join Black Girl Environmentalist, Sola Market, and Climate Futures Studio for a holiday crafting gathering at the Imagining Climate Futures Exhibition at Queens Council on the Arts in Long Island City.
Bring your own craft projects and/or join New York-based artist Oluwakemi "Kemi" Oritsejafor in a workshop to create an upcycled denim accessory! To participate in Kemi's workshop, participants are kindly requested to bring a pair of old jeans/pants/corduroys, or any other pattern or textile you would like to work with. There will be some materials available on site for those who do not have their own to bring.
Guests are also welcome to bring their own crafts for a communal crafting session among link-minded folks committed to making, not buying this holiday season.
An Ofrenda Table will be curated by Laiyonelth Hurtado. Light refreshments will be provided.
