Learn the basics of MIG welding and safety in this project-based class taught by certified welder and fabricator, Daniel Schepers of Elite Welding and Design, in this 3-hour evening class. Daniel's company is a veteran family owned business and is W.A.B.O certified with over ten years of welding/fabricating experience. In this course, you'll learn proper techniques for welding joints, and grinding and finishing as you make your own take home project. Attendees can choose from geometric bowl, a wine holder or a stand alone cactus with your creative touches.

Class includes:

  • instruction on how to safely operate a MIG welder
  • practical hands-on experience completing your very own welded steel project
  • all materials to complete one geometric bowl, wine holder OR cactus sculpture.
  • proficiency on MIG welder for members of Lacey MakerSpace*

Didn't quite finish? - Attendees have free access to the industrial metals room for up to one week after class, during open hours. Please email info@laceymakerspace.org to book your time to complete your project.

NOTE: Please select the ticket option that matches the project you wish to make in class so we can have the correct materials prepped for class.

*LMS members must demonstrate proficiency on equipment before independent use. Completing this course or attending Basics classes satisfies that requirement.

CLASS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Closed-toe shoes are required.
  • Pants. No shorts or synthetic materials (preferably jeans, leathers, or cotton)
  • Additional PPE will be provided (welding jackets and helmets, gloves, etc.)
  • Ages 12 and up can attend. Attendees under the age of 18 must have a guardian present at all times (Please visit our policies page for the Minor Use Policy and Waiver).

What's your refund policy?

• Refunds (minus 10% service fee) are available if canceled 7+ days before class. • Cancellations 2-6 days before class will receive a credit voucher (minus 10% service fee) for future use (valid for 1 year). • No refunds within 48 hours of the start date. Eventbrite fees are non-refundable.

What should i wear?

Closed-toed shoes at all times at the Lacey MakerSpace. Dress comfortably. PPE (proper protective equipment) is provided by LMS.

How old do you have to be to take a class at Lacey MakerSpace?

We welcome participants ages 12 and up! --Ages 12–15 can join with a parent or guardian who stays on-site and provides active supervision throughout the class. --Ages 16–17 are welcome to attend alongside a parent or guardian and may work on their own project.

Are there any policies I need to be aware of before attending a class?
