Hi, I’m Makeda Weaver—a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and lifelong maker based in Washington, DC. I believe that creativity is for everyone, and I love helping people discover the joy of making something with their own hands. Whether you’ve never touched a sewing machine or you’re just looking for a fun afternoon project, this class is for you.
In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn how to sew your very own 16” x 14” tote bag—and take it home the same day!

No experience is necessary! This workshop is beginner-friendly and all materials and tools are provided.
A 16 X 14 inch tote bag
Workshops are open to adults and teens (14+)with a registered parent or guardian - due to the use of sewing machines.
Refunds are available up to 48 hours before the workshop. All sessions are held at DC Arts Studios. Space is limited to 8 participants per session to ensure a hands-on, interactive experience.
