Session One: Block Party—Carve Your Own DIY Stamps & Print Your Own Fabric
Sunday, July 20, 2:00–4:00 p.m.
Learn to design, carve, and block print your own stamps on fabric. Leave with custom-printed textiles and the skills to keep creating!

Materials/ Tools Provided:

  • Two large cotton panels to print on, OR
  • One panel of cotton fabric pre cut and finished to be used in the tote bag class – are registered for both classes you'll be able to design the fabric that you'll be using in the tote bag class
  • Fabric Paint
  • Rubber Carving Blocks and Erasers
  • Drawing Materials
  • Carving Tools
  • Scrap Fabric Testing Designs


Session Two: Tote-ally You—Sew Your Own Bag
Sunday, July 27, 2:00–4:00 p.m.
Designed for beginners, this class guides you through sewing your very first tote bag. Take home a handmade 16x14 tote bag—use your own printed fabric for a one-of-a-kind creation!

Materials/ Tools Provided:

  • Sewing Machines and Tools (scissors, thread, pins, fabric clips, seam rippers, etc)
  • Iron and ironing Board
  • Plain pre cut and finished natural cotton duck fabric, plain, undyed natural color, OR
  • The fabric you designed in the previous session
  • Variety of straps for Bag Handles

Frequently asked questions

Do I need experience or bring anything?

No experience is necessary! Both workshops are beginner-friendly and all materials and tools are provided. You’re welcome to bring your own design ideas for inspiration.

Can I register for just one workshop, or do I have to attend both?

Register for either the Block Printing or Bag Sewing workshop—whatever fits your schedule! Sign up for both and enjoy a special discount on the combined registration.

What will I leave with?

If you attend the Block Printing workshop, you’ll leave with custom printed fabric. The Bag Sewing workshop gives you a handmade tote. Register for both to create a custom sewn tote using the fabric you printed—so you can enjoy both experiences and take home a truly one-of-a-kind bag!

Who can attend, and what should I wear?

Workshops are open to adults and teens (14+)with a registered parent or guardian - due to the use of sharp tools. For the Block Printing workshop, wear clothes that can get a little inky, or bring an apron.

What about refunds, location, and class size?

Refunds are available up to 48 hours before the workshop. All sessions are held at DC Arts Studios. Space is limited to 8 participants per session to ensure a hands-on, interactive experience.

How many participants are in each class, and is there a waitlist?

Each class is limited to 8 participants to ensure a hands-on experience. If it’s full, join the Eventbrite waitlist—you’ll be notified if a spot opens up 7 days before the workshop.
