End grain cutting boards are a style that is legendary for toughness and long life. In this two-day class, you will create and finish a one-of-a-kind end grain cutting board. The completed board will measure approximately 10" by 18" by 2" thick. The size and weight will truly make it stand out from cheaper cutting boards you may find. Students will also route out a juice groove and handles and finally apply a food grade finish.

Cutting Board & Knife Making combo will also take you through the process of making your own larger knife, such as a chef's knife, to use with your new cutting board. You’ll learn how to make wooden scales and apply them to a knife hardware kit. We’ll also cover sawing, sanding, and finishing techniques. By the end of the first day, you’ll have your very own knife to take home! Selection may vary, but you will choose from a selection of fixed-blade knife kits with ~8" to ~12" blades, such as a (French pattern) chef's knife, santoku, or filet knife. You will return for a second day to complete the sanding and finishing of your end grain cutting board.

- 10/11 Cutting Board ONLY: Saturday, 10/11 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and Sunday, 10/12, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
- 10/11 2-class Combo: Saturday, 10/11 from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM (with a lunch break between classes) and Sunday, 10/12, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
