Mahjong Guided & Open Play at Bottle Theory in Elmhurst

Already know the basics but not quite ready to play on your own?

Guided/Open Play is the perfect bridge between learning and confident gameplay. This session is not a beginner class — instead, you’ll play real games at your own pace, with friendly, tableside coaching whenever you need it.

Certified instructor Angela Buikema and her assistant instructors circulate throughout the room to answer questions, help with strategy, scoring, Charleston sequences, and interpreting the Mahjong card—without interrupting the flow of the game.

You’ll grow your skills naturally, while actually playing — and you’ll do it in a relaxed, supportive, and social environment alongside other players at the same stage of learning.

All Mahjong sets provided. Please bring your 2025 NMJL card; we'll have a few available to borrow as well.

Please come early to get dinner & drinks and to get settled at your table, especially if you are coming with a group. We will start promptly at 7 pm.
