10/25/2025 - Audio in Games

Students will learn

  • How audio is produced in the real world
  • How audio is stored digitally to be played
  • How audio is converted from the digital model to physical sound

Students will learn how to

  • Develop a process for critical analysis of video games
  • Use their knowledge to design their own engaging interactive experiences
  • Present interactive design research to peers


11/01/2025 - Music in Games

Students will learn

  • How the major diatonic scale can be a starting point for understanding music composition
  • How using a different starting point within the diatonic scale creates modes, providing a structured palette for expression

Students will learn how to

  • How to create background audio through chords and arpeggiation along different modes of the diatonic scale
  • How to write a melody over their chord progressions
  • How to integrate this music behind an existing video game


11/08/2025, 9:30-11:30 - Build a World

For ages 10-14

Explore a fantasy world called Massa Mist in a brand new comic series. You'll also learn about important issues related to today's technologies. During this session, you'll have time to talk about the comic with other kids, and work on different activities. You'll also get to build in the world of Massa Mist through GameBender, a new coding platform where you can build your own games.

Taught by guest teacher Ariam Mogos, this class is best for young people aged 10-14 who are excited by comics - this session will involve reading a brand new comic and talking about it. Choose to attend either session, 11/8/2025 or 11/15/2025.


11/15/2025, 9:30-11:30 - Build a World

For ages 10-14

11/22/2025 - Build a Wave Machine

Learn how to use electronics like the Servo machine to build a wave machine. In this class, you'll use tools like an Arduino, breadboard, and Servo and Scratch programming to create a device that moves!

12/06/2025 - Game Critique for Kids

Students will learn how to

  • Develop a process for critical analysis of video games
  • Use their knowledge to design their own engaging interactive experiences
  • Present interactive design research to peers


12/13/2025 - Character Design

Students will learn how to

  • What character design is
  • General principles for designing characters
  • Shape
  • Silhouette
  • Colors
  • Movement
  • Exaggeration
  • Breaking the rules to make characters even more unique


12/20/2025 - Animation in Games

Students will learn how to

  • Identify what animation is and where it is used
  • Identify the 12 principles of animation
  • Critique a game’s animations using the 12 principles of animation
  • Animate a short clip using pencil and paper
