About me and Why I am Teaching: I was first introduced to macrame as a jewelry-making technique in the late 90’s. Years later, as styles and trends re-enter modern culture, I have picked it up again on a much larger scale. My work was on display in West Elm Seattle in the summer of 2014 as a featured local artist and atWest Elm Elm Ponce City Market in 2016. I have been commissioned to make large wall hangings for both residential spaces and commercial spaces. For me, the creative process is a way to awaken the spirit and find reprieve from our busy day to day lives. Macrame especially can provide an easy outlet and is meditative by nature. I want to give individuals without formal training access to the joy of not only creating something beautiful and unique, but also a skill they can expand upon.
