Accelerate Success with a Purpose-Built Industrial IoT Platform and the “Thing” Model

Join our Illumination Works’ experts as they demonstrate the ease of representing the physical world in the PTC ThingWorx IoT platform by leveraging the “Thing” Model. Things (objects) in ThingWorx represent the business domain including operational technology systems and other physical assets. Things allow ThingWorx to integrate all data and information about assets in one centralized place. Each Thing in the physical world has a digital representation, or digital twin, within the ThingWorx domain model.

This session leverages CNC machine data sets to create a “Thing Template” using the ThingWorx Composer application. Templates enable reusable components within the model instead of having to create a unique Thing for every component in your operational environment. Templates are:

• Easy to create and make inheritance in the model easier to maintain
• Easy to view based on structure
• Save time when adding new “Things” or objects
• Allow common assets to have common events and subscriptions, which provide interactions and triggering within and around the data associated with the asset
