Time: 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM

Nonprofits are facing some of the biggest challenges ever seen - some of which are posed by the current federal draft tax bill. There's some good news - but there are TWO provisions that are the focus of nonprofit lobbyists right now. You need to know what they are and what steps you and your agency can take to protect yourself and the entire nonprofit sector.
We are very lucky to have two outstanding guests leading a workshop on June 10 to explain the legislation, the potential impact, and what we can do to make a difference!
Sally Schaeffer, the lobbyist who represents AFP Global in Washington. Sally Schaeffer is the founder and owner of Uncorked Advocates, a highly successful federal government relations firm. Among her current clients are some of the nation’s largest nonprofits, including Association of Fundraising Professionals, American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association, Covenant House International, United Philanthropy Forum, The Nonprofit Alliance, and Prevent Child Abuse America. On behalf of American Heart Association, she helped to coordinate a national coalition of 60 nonprofits in support of the Legacy IRA Act, which passed into law in December 2022 and led to tens of millions of dollars being donated by seniors to the charitable sector.
She currently sits on the steering committee of the national Charitable Giving Coalition, a group made up of more than 1,000 national and local nonprofits that support the bipartisan Charitable Act to restore and expand charitable deduction for non-itemizers.
Previous to starting her own firm, Sally represented more than 500 nonprofits and foundations as the Government Relations Director at Independent Sector.
Sally is the past President of the nonpartisan Women’s Congressional Golf Association. Sally is the past President of the nonpartisan Women’s Congressional Golf Association. She was recently named by The Hill as a Top Lobbyist for 2024, her fourth annual recognition, and was also named Top 100 Lobbyist in 2022 by The National Institute for Lobbying & Ethics.
Nicole Weingartner, a registered lobbyist and the Director of State Government Affairs in the New York City office of Davidoff Hutcher & Citron's Government Relations Group. Nicole is also an AFPLI Board member and a member of AFP Global's US Government Relations Committee.
Join us by ZOOM on Tuesday, June 10 for the extremely important lunch and learn program. We need all hands on deck to keep New York's non profit sector intact!!
The week AFTER our program is Lobbying Week for AFP in New York State, so you'll also learn how to put what you learn into action.
For those of you who were planning on attending our Proposal Writing program previously scheduled, we will put that back on the calendar, but this is too important and time sensitive!
