ABOUT THE SHOW: UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Unfinished Business is a solo exhibition of Washington, DC based multidisciplinary visual artist Luke Walter.  Drawing from a vast catalogue of photographs previously existing only on hard drives, the show features artworks now given new life in tangible form.

With photography as their genesis, an array of mediums are utilized to produce works with a tactile breadth as wide as their subject matter.  Handmade frames surround the art, further emphasizing the transfer of the images from the screen into the physical world.  It is a nod to the importance of separating from today’s mire of the digital realm, and choosing to experience what surrounds us.

ABOUT LUKE WALTER

Luke Walter is a Washington, DC based photographer, printmaker, filmmaker, and visual artist.  Born in Northern New Jersey to a family supporting the arts, his evolution as a storyteller has taken him across the United States and internationally, navigating the commercial, editorial, and art worlds.

A self-taught woodworker, Luke now builds handmade frames for many of his pieces, relishing the additional creative control regarding the color, texture, and overall feel for the presentation of his artwork.

Currently amidst a complete overhaul and custom buildout of his home studio to further his practice, Luke is increasing the accessibility to a variety of printmaking mediums, including silkscreen and small presswork.  He seeks to incorporate the written word into his practice as a complement to his visual artwork.

He continues to experiment, utilizing a variety of mediums to expand his visual catalog while continually shifting the definition and language of his art.
