Overview

Looking for volunteer hours? Come support young Black voices at the Speak On It! Justice-themed speech competition this November 26th.

The Lukasa Library is hosting its first-ever Speak On It! speech competition for high school students! Competitors will deliver 7–10 minute speeches on the theme of Justice, addressing the prompt on whether or not prison abolition and police defunding could promote sustainable development for African/Afro-descendant people in Canada.

Speakers will be judged on delivery, organization, use of data, and enthusiasm, with a $300 prize for the winner. Spectators are invited to attend and can earn volunteer hours by supporting the event.
