As a queer API, coming out and/or creating authentic relationships with friends, families and colleagues isn’t always easy. We believe that you are valid and deserve support no matter who you do or do not share your identities with. There isn’t one right way to live your authentic selves. Most importantly, it’s YOUR choice. What matters is being empowered by your own voice and story.

Come join us in this two-part workshop in which we will:

Listen to other API queer individuals' and family members' stories.
Explore in a safe and supportive space your feelings and thoughts around coming out or not coming out.
Develop skills to have difficult conversations with a deeper understanding of yourself and values.

Session one: Sharing API LGBTQIA intergenerational stories, Sunday October 11th, 3pm to 4:30pm EDT

A virtual story-sharing event from members in the API LGBTQIA+ community. Our panel will consist of two young adults and two parents, sharing their own journey through self-acceptance, living authentically and getting support from their loved ones.

Our guest speakers:

LGBTQ adults

Hua - A transgender woman and daughter who was born in a Thai-Chinese family.
Sunny - A Queer woman, a first-generation Chinese immigrant, an artist, and a passionate educator.

Parents

Rachel - A Chinese mother of two and the parent of a 14-year old transgender daughter.
Devki - A parent of a transgender young adult and first-generation immigrant from India.

Our aim is to create a safe space for meaningful intergenerational dialogue. We are excited to have you join us! Your participation will remain anonymous, but you are welcome to submit questions for the panel to address.
