About this event

Projects best suited for the mini-loom: small holes in shirts, socks, pants, hats. Size of hole can range from micro to 1” in diameter. We’ll be using a small loom in the workshop once you learn the mini-loom, the technique can be applied with learner looms and therefore larger holes.

What to bring: Any item with a 1” hole or smaller, in any woven, jersey, or knit fabric. Practice material will be provided.

What you’ll learn:

  • Basics of darning and how to loom is used to ease this typically manual process
  • How to set up the loom
  • Practice basic weaving techniques
  • Practice and troubleshooting
  • Apply weaving to your project with individual consultation

What you’ll leave with:

Mended items and mini-loom and a new found confidence to mend or adorn items you come across in your closet, thrifting or otherwise.

Don’t forget! You don’t need a hole to adorn with loom darning. Bring in any item that needs pizzaz.

No experience necessary.

Frequently asked questions

Water and tea available. No food provided but you are welcome to bring a snack.

Does this technique work on any type of fabric?

The Speedweve mini mending loom is best suited for medium- to heavyweight woven fabrics such as: Denim, canvas and cotton twill. It is less effective on lightweight or stretchy fabrics like silk, jersey knit, or spandex, as these can be too delicate.
