Looking Under The Hood Of The Writing Process

For the past several years Westbury Arts has presented Westbury's Got Talent, which has allowed artists ranging from singers, poets, comedians and performers of the spoken word to share with the community their gifts for communication in its various forms. Looking Under The Hood of The Writing Process will ask and answer the process questions of "how," "why" and "what" writers do to bring their ideas from their minds, through their fingers and onto the page and stage. It will also give the audience a taste from the presenters' finished products. The panelists for the program are Julie Lyon, president of the Board of Directors of Westbury Arts and a singer/songwriter; Alicia Evans, vice president of the Board of Directors of Westbury Arts and an author of fiction and non-fiction works; Meagan Meehan a poet and playwrite; and Chuck Cutolo, a member of the Westbury Arts board of directors and a self-described poetic essayist. Audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions as they themselves consider whether being part of what's under the hood of the writing process is someplace where they might like to be, too.

Westbury Arts programs are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the office of the governor and the New York State Legislature.
