Longmont Public Safety Citizens' Academy

1. Students must register on Eventbrite.

2. Prior to the start of the academy, participants must sign a waiver. This waiver can be emailed (robin.ericson@longmontcolorado.gov), hand delivered, or mailed to Longmont Public Safety Citizen Academy, ATTN: Robin Ericson, 225 Kimbark Street, Longmont, CO 80501.

3. If you are in need of accommodations (such as sign language) please email the event coordinator (robin.ericson@longmontcolorado.gov) to make arrangements no less than five business days prior to the event.

DATES FOR ACADEMYTo participate, you must be able to attend all four dates (Sept 3, 10, 17, 24). The hands-on class is optional, but will allow you to experience what our staff does.

Dates for the 2025 Public Safety Citizen Academy are set for:

Sept 3 - Public Safety Chief and Staff (Safety and Justice Building, 225 Kimbark)

Sept 10 - Police Services (Firing Range, 10916 County Road 5, Longmont)

Sept 17 - Fire Services (Longmont Fire Station)

Sept 24 - Collaborative Services (Longmont Museum, 400 Quail, Longmont)

Sept 27 - Field Day (Fire Training Center) OPTIONAL HANDS-ON CLASS

The Longmont Department of Public Safety offers the Public Safety Citizen Academy to help Longmont residents better understand first responders and their efforts behind the scenes.

This class is led by firefighters, police officers, and public safety professional staff.

Attendees must commit to attending the four classes for the four-week period. The field day on Saturday morning is optional. The Citizen Academy is free. The class size is limited to 40 participants, and participants must be 18 years of age or older.
