About Brehm:Brehm Preparatory School is a fully accredited, not-for-profit coeducational boarding and day school located in Carbondale, Illinois, serving students in grades 6 through 12 and post-graduate levels. Founded in 1982, Brehm specializes in educating students with learning differences, including ADHD, dyslexia, autism spectrum disorders, and executive functioning challenges. With an average class size of six and a 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio, Brehm offers a personalized, holistic approach that integrates academic instruction with social-emotional learning, speech and language therapy, and independent living skills. The school uniquely offers the Arrowsmith Program, targeting cognitive functions to strengthen learning capacities. Brehm's mission is to empower neurodiverse students to recognize and optimize their potential throughout their lives.
About OPTIONS Transitions to Independence:
OPTIONS Transitions to Independence is a comprehensive, not-for-profit post-secondary program based in Carbondale, Illinois, designed for young adults aged 18 to 25 with learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, and related challenges. As an extension of Brehm Preparatory School, OPTIONS focuses on enhancing life skills and fostering independence through personalized programs that include academic enrichment, career development, and independent living training. Participants benefit from individualized support, including instruction in social skills, employment readiness, and community-based internships. The program offers two tracks: a college transition track in partnership with John A. Logan College and a vocational track with various certificate options. OPTIONS aims to equip young adults with the tools necessary to lead happy, independent, and productive lives.
